Known since the 7th century, they were soldiers, merchants, bicklayers and finally bankers in the Renaissance. In the last century, the Gondi have focused on agricultural and tourist activities, giving new life to their properties and products of the highest level.
An ancient noble Florentine family that has been known since the time of Charlemagne, who armed the Philippi Consortery, from which the Gondi descend, knights. The Philippi were put in Heaven in the Divine Comedy, by Dante Alighieri, as the oldest family in Florence. They were Podestà and Priori of the Florentine Republic, merchants, batloros, bankers and ambassadors under the Medici, and in France they held very important political positions with the two Medici queens.
